President Roma Stibravy has been invited to speak at the U.N. Private Sector Forum 2011: Sustainable Energy for All on Tuesday, September 20, 2011 at the U.N. Headquarters New York. UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon will chair the event.
Approximately 300 Heads of State and Government, chief executives, civil society leads and Heads of UN Agencies will attend the event. Guests will include: Mr. George Kell (Executive Director, UN Global Compact Office), Dr. Kandeh Yumkella (Director-General, UNIDO & Chairman of UN-Energy), H.E. Ms. Dilma Rousseff (Head of State, Federal Republic of Brazil) and Mr. Arnold Schwarzenegger (Former Governor of State of California).
The annual forum creates a liaison between the highest levels of the public and private sector for the sectors to collaborate and enhance business action in addressing pressing global challenges.
This year’s private forum will support the Secretary-General’s “Sustainable Energy for All” initiative, which seeks to attain three major targets by 2030:
- Achieving universal access to modern energy services;
- Improving energy efficiency by 20 per cent;
- Producing 30 per cent of the world’s energy from renewable resources.
Roma will be speaking at the round-tables on renewable energy and investment,focusing particularly on small and medium enterprises in the green economy.
